TABLEWARE - Design and Production
Beachville is a quaint cafe located on a prime street in Chennai, the space bustles with relaxed energy enhanced by the all encompassing aroma of freshly-ground coffee and floating lights. The focus of the cafe was to enrich the city's coffee experience by showcasing the flavours and strengths of responsibly sourced Indian coffee beans.
We were tasked with developing the tableware for the cafe. This included four variants of drinkware - Espresso cups(60ml), Filter coffee cups(150ml), Cappuccino mugs(180ml) and Latte mugs(240 ml) along with serveware for quickbites.
Keeping in mind the name, we opted for a combination of unglazed finish on the outside with glazed blue on the inside, reminiscent of the beach sand and blue waves,. A distinguished handle set the tone for the drinking experience. A reinterpreted version of the traditional South Indian Davara tumbler designed with a hold area that framed the classic froth was used for serving the filter coffee.
